In 1976, identical twin brothers, Jim and Jerry Mashburn, created Magma Products. They were two young California sailors who, besides their love of sailing, loved to barbeque. However, experiments with attaching barbeques to their boat proved unsuccessful. The porcelain metal barbeques available in the mid 1970's were just not up to the task. After a short time attached to the stern of Jim and Jerry's boat, the barbeques simply rusted out and became completely unserviceable. Knowing the durability of stainless steel in marine environments, the twins set to work making a stainless steel barbeque that would withstand the hardships of a salt-water environment.

The Magma Gas Barbecue is made of 100% 18-9 mirror polished stainless steel. This barbeque was designed for economy without sacrificing function. It has the same features of the Combination Stove and Barbeque but without the double lined bowl, and radiant burner plate and dome system. Instead, it uses the time-tested, highly efficient radiant screen and briquette heating system to achieve hot and even temperatures using a minimum of fuel. The special ceramic briquettes are designed to reduce flare-ups.

The stainless steel grill is 36mm in diameter giving a cooking area of 995sq cm. The Stainless steel burner has a heat input 3.25kw giving a cooking time of 2 –4 hours on a Camping Gaz CV470 disposable cartridge. The BBQ when packed up only measures 36cm in diameter and weighs 4.7kg. A carry bag is one of the many optional extras that also include a refillable cylinder conversion kit.

A selection of mounting options is available: the Push pit / Pulpit mounts are available for either 25mm (A10-080) or 32mm (A10-085) size rails and a three legged shore stand (A10-650).
